in Vorbereitung — in preparation
From the beginning of 2023 we are publishing a weekly series of reflections called ‘Christ’s Idea of Authority’. We have English, French and Spanish editions.
1. Authority? Yes but
|
For many years now the Wijngaards Institute has been focussing attention on how authority is exercised in the Catholic Church.
In 2015, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Vatican Council, the Institute issued a declaration that was signed by 216 Professors from more than 100 Catholic universities. The text can be seen here: https://www.churchauthority.org/.
In 2022, we formulated a Constitution that should underpin Church law. It was elaborated with the help of an international work group of 26 experts and signed by 67 academics world wide.
An explanation of the purpose and contents of the Constitution can be read here: https://www.johnwijngaards.com/proposed-constitution/.
The full text of the Proposed Constitution is available here in English, German and Spanish: https://www.wijngaardsinstitute.com/proposed-constitution-catholic-church/
